Government
Bethany Fellowship Church is operated by the biblical principle of Elders. Scripture reveals there was plurality of Elders in each church (Acts 13:2-3; Acts 15:2 & 4, 22-23; James 5:14). All allude to the fact that the local church has a plurality of Elders ruling. These churches in the scriptures were established churches. There were moral qualifications, domestic qualifications and spiritual qualifications listed in the scripture for these Elders and Bethany Fellowship seeks to maintain these qualifications for their Elders. Our senior pastor serves as Chairman of the Board of Elders. New elders are added to the church on an as-needed basis according to population. Elders may be nominated by the body or Board of Elders. Qualifications would be examined and approved by the Board of Elders with final approval being given by the Elders. The church body is usually invited to have a vote to confirm the choice of an elder but the vote is not binding. The Elders through detailed reports given at quarterly meetings scrutinize all finances of the church. Finances are open to the fellowship except personal giving records. Only the church treasurer has access to that information. All matters of the church Board of Elders are usually approved unanimously. If matters are not approved unanimously, they are tabled or dismissed because the church board desires unity in all matters concerning the church. Bethany Fellowship is a legal non-profit corporation under IRS Code 501(3)(c); therefore all gifts and donations are tax deductible for IRS purposes. The senior pastor is responsible for all spiritual matters and activities for the church and is acting CEO of all church staff. |
